2 April 2019 – Sydney based Sovereign Governance Advisory launches today as an independent corporate governance consulting group to provide Australian boards and senior management with practical company disclosure and institutional shareholder engagement solutions. The company brings years of experience providing proxy research advice to global institutional shareholders, as well as servicing ASX companies across annual general meeting considerations, corporate actions and shareholder activism campaigns.
Mr. Michael Chandler, Managing Director of Sovereign Governance Advisory, said the company’s goal is to support its clients in benefiting from improved investor sentiment, superior non-financial risk management oversight and in turn, dependable shareholder voting support.
“We are a results driven organisation that exists to assist companies in implementing market leading corporate governance practices and reporting that resonates with the diverse and evolving requirements of institutional shareholders and their governance advisors. We will remain at the cutting edge of shareholder expectations and through this, exist as a dependable advisor to board directors and senior management that wish to adopt a well-maintained governance disclosure and engagement program.”
The Sovereign Governance team will be spending considerable time in discussions with ESG teams across global asset owners and act as a conduit for relaying forward looking shareholder disclosure and voting sensitivities to ASX companies, with the goal of underpinning the advancement of Australian corporate governance best practice.
The company will launch a complimentary, quarterly newsletter beginning in April that will highlight domestic and global corporate governance research and trends, as well as discussions with some of Australia’s leading company directors and corporate governance stakeholders. An online Governance Intelligence Portal is also targeted for launch in the second half of 2019.
